November 23, 2016: LPP successfully defended Board of Directors and Managers of an international trampoline park company in a three-week arbitration concerning a former manager’s claims relating to management and ownership of the company.
May 26, 2015: LPP has won an appeal on behalf of one of its bankruptcy litigation clients. On Tuesday, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the earlier favorable appellate ruling of the U.S. District Court, and the favorable Bankruptcy Court ruling after trial. The client, who had filed for bankruptcy, was sued by three film finance and production companies seeking a non-dischargeable judgment of more than $5 million based on allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.
January 2015: Four LPP attorneys have been named “Super Lawyers” in the Southern California survey published by Thomson Reuters and Los Angeles Magazine: Matt Lesnick and Chris Prince were included for Business Bankruptcy, and Mike Pappas and David Alverson were included in the Business Litigation category. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. The designation is given to no more than 5% of attorneys in the area. June 24, 2011: Lesnick Prince LLP is excited to announce that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California has confirmed the competing chapter 11 plan of reorganization proposed by the firm’s client for 53 jointly-administered chapter 11 debtors in the bankruptcy case of In re Meruelo Maddux Properties, Inc. Together, the debtors comprise one of the largest commercial real estate companies in Southern California. After the debtors’ old management proposed several plans to wipe out shareholders, Lesnick Prince was retained by minority shareholders to achieve a better result. Lesnick Prince worked to obtain permission from the bankruptcy court to propose a competing plan of reorganization, and negotiated with the estate’s numerous stakeholders to create a better plan for the Company. After months of trial, the Bankruptcy Court confirmed the plan proposed by Lesnick Prince, and the company since has emerged from bankruptcy under new leadership.
September 26, 2011: Lesnick Prince LLP is pleased to announce that it has obtained a near-complete victory after trial on behalf of its client, an independent film producer in bankruptcy. The debtor was sued by three related film finance and production entities seeking a non-dischargeable judgment of more than 5 million based on allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. After several days of trial, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California entered judgment against the debtor for less than 5% of the amount sought by the creditors. The client considers the result a virtually complete victory.
March 22, 2011: Lesnick Prince LLP is pleased to announce that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California has confirmed a chapter 11 plan of reorganization in a bankruptcy case of an individual debtor in which the firm represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors. The plan was confirmed with the full support of the Committee following extensive negotiations by the firm on behalf of creditors. The debtor, who founded and owned extensive interests in several surgical centers and a hospital, had incurred extensive personal guaranty liabilities as a result of the failure of those entities. Under the confirmed plan, creditors will receive more than 5 million in payments.
January 19, 2011: Lesnick Prince LLP is pleased to announce that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California has granted its motion for summary judgment, resulting in a non-dischargeable judgment in favor of the firm’s client of more than 9 million. The judgment was based on allegations that the debtor, a doctor, fraudulently induced the firm’s client to invest in a medical spa business.
January 5, 2011: Lesnick Prince LLP is pleased to announce that it has obtained a total defense verdict following trial in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. The firm represented an independent film producer/debtor in an adversary proceeding brought by a film financier against the debtor. The film financier sought a non-dischargeable debt in excess of million based on allegations of fraud and presentation of false financial statements. After several days of trial, the Bankruptcy Court entered judgment in favor of the debtor, and awarded the creditor nothing.

June 11, 2010: Lesnick Prince LLP is pleased to announce that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California has confirmed a chapter 11 plan in the case of Fremont General Corporation, ending a two-year battle over the fate of what was once one of the nation’s largest subprime lenders. The case was remarkable in that there were as many as five different competing plans of reorganization. Lesnick Prince represented one the company’s minority shareholders as one of the plan proponents. Following presentation of the disclosure statement, plan solicitation, confirmation briefing and trial, the Firm’s client ultimately joined up with another plan proponent to form the group that proposed the winning plan.
